Easy Free SEO Check Guide for Beginners
This simple guide helps you check and improve your website like example.com using free tools—no tech skills needed. Follow one step at a time, like a recipe, to make your site show up better in Google searches.
Step 1: Google Search Console - Like Checking Your Mail
Open your web browser and go to https://search.google.com/search-console. Click "Sign in" with your regular Google email (like Gmail).
Click the big blue "+ Add property" button. Choose "Domain" and type "example.com" exactly (no http or www).
To prove it's your site: Pick "DNS record" - copy the long code, log into where you bought your domain (like GoDaddy), paste it in DNS settings, wait 15 minutes. Or choose "HTML tag" - copy the code and paste it in your website builder (like WordPress: go to Settings > add to header).
Once verified (green checkmark), click "Sitemaps" on left menu, type "sitemap.xml" and click Submit.
Now check: Click "Pages" - see red errors? Click them and follow "Fix" buttons. Click "Core Web Vitals" - if orange/red, make pictures smaller using tinypng.com (upload, download, replace on site).
Step 2: SEOquake - Quick Site Doctor Visit
In Chrome browser, go to Chrome Web Store SEOquake, click blue "Add to Chrome" button. It's like adding a bookmark.
Open https://example.com in a new tab. Look for SEOquake fox icon next to your web address bar - click it.
Click "Diagnosis" tab (like a report card). Red items need fixing: Short titles? Make them longer like "Welcome to Example.com - Best Tips". No picture labels? Add "alt text" in your site editor.
Click green checkmarks to see good things. Click "Export" to save as PDF on your desktop for later.
Step 3: Seobility - Your Free Site Grader
Go to https://www.seobility.net/es/seocheck/. Type "https://example.com" in the box, click big "Analizar página" button (you get 3 free checks per day).
Wait 1-2 minutes for score like a school grade (aim for A or 90%). Click red "High Priority" items:
Missing title? Add one in site settings: "Example.com Homepage".
Slow site? Use their tips or tinypng.com again.
Click "Fix" buttons - they tell you exactly what to copy-paste into your site. Check again tomorrow.
Step 4: Ahrefs Free Tools - See What's Popular
Visit https://ahrefs.com/webmaster-tools, click "Try for free", sign up with email (no card needed).
Add "example.com", verify like in Step 1 (uses Google login). Click "Site Audit" - let it run (few minutes).
See "Issues" list like a shopping list: Green=good, Yellow=okay, Red=fix now (e.g., broken pages - delete or redirect).
Click "Keywords" to see search words people use; write blog posts about those easy ones.
Do one step per day, like watering plants. In a week, your site will work better - check Google searches for "example.com" to see changes!
